The Rovers go Amsterdam!

A group of players from the Rovers men’s teams swapped Munich for the Netherlands last weekend, heading to Amsterdam for an unforgettable football tournament. The trip offered far more than just action on the pitch  – it gave the boys a chance to represent the club in a new setting, share plenty of laughs, and make memories as a team.​

Playing in a 7-a-side tournament for the first time, the 10-man squad approached the challenge with energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of team spirit. The group stage proved a tough test, with two narrow 2-1 defeats meaning the Rovers would go on to compete for positions 9–12 in the final standings. That didn’t dampen the mood though. With grit, determination, and a couple of outrageous finishes, the lads bounced back in the placement round, picking up two emphatic wins (5-1 and 5-2), as well as a narrow 3-2 loss to a very strong opponent. When all was said and done, the Rovers had scored 14 goals and conceded 10 across five lively 25-minute matches to claim ninth place!

Off the pitch, the group made the most of everything Amsterdam had to offer. From relaxed canal strolls to sampling local food and nightlife, and simply enjoying time together, the weekend served as the perfect mix of football and fun.

Chairman Matteo Napoli summed it up best: “It was not about where we finished, it was about doing it together.” The chief organiser of the Amsterdam trip added: “This weekend was pure Rovers spirit – football, friends, and fun in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.”

With stronger connections forged and plenty of stories to tell, the Rovers return to Munich recharged and ready for the season ahead – though a few may still be recovering from those late nights…
