For the first time since their founding in 2008, the Munich Irish Rovers FC Ladies' team are league champions. After a season full of belief, commitment and brilliant team spirit, the girls sealed the Frauen A-Klasse title with a 4-1 win away at SpVgg Höhenkirchen on the final day – a result that also secured promotion to the Kreisklasse.
It brought to a close a campaign that saw the Rovers bounce back from an opening-day defeat to FC Dreistern with 15 consecutive wins. The decisive result came in the return fixture at home to Dreistern, when a brace from Lee La Briffa secured a thrilling 2-1 win – swinging the title race back in Rovers’ favour.

Under new head coach Dave McCall, who joined from Ireland last summer, the team combined attacking flair with a strong sense of unity, finishing as the league’s top scorers with 83 goals. Lee La, Tanja Lange and Patricia Serna Alvarez all hit double figures.

But this title wasn’t just about standout performances. With a squad of mixed experience, maintaining the club’s long-standing ethos – where everyone plays their part – while pushing for silverware was a delicate balance. Dave managed it impressively, rotating when needed and making sure that every player felt their role mattered in a tightly-knit group.

Former men’s team player Dom Werth joined as assistant coach to support the growing squad, helping bring out the best in both newcomers and seasoned players. “I have to say thanks to Dave for showing me the ropes,” said Dom. “He has the perfect way of communicating with this team. I’m really proud of the girls – and they should be proud of themselves too.”

For club captain Katrin Trojer, who has worn the Rovers shirt for 15 years, the title is a landmark moment: “I just want to thank the girls for making this happen. And thanks also to Dave and Dom for caring for us and showing such patience along the way.”

“It’s been a pleasure to coach this team,” said Dave. “I’ve had really good fun, and that’s what football is about. I want to thank the girls for being themselves, both on and off the pitch.”

Director of Football Matt Hardy reflected on what the ladies' first title means for the club: “It’s an incredible achievement for the girls to finally get their reward. Thanks of course go to Dave, Dom and all the players, but also to Alan Aherne, whose years of work building this team made this achievement possible in the first place. We hope that the success doesn’t end here.”
With the title in hand and promotion secured, the Rovers Ladies now look ahead to the Kreisklasse – and to building on a season no one at the club will forget.
