Rovers took the spoils in pre-season friendly on the Astroturf at their new temporary shelter at Graubundenerstrasse.

Rovers went ahead on ten minutes when Clare slotted home from close range after McGrath and Wood (not a comedy duo) both jostled for the ball in the box.

The Moosachers fired home an equaliser just five minutes later with the striker slotting into the corner after being afforded the freedom of Furstenried in the box.

Just before the break, a battling Jesus McGrath won the ball after a strong challenge on a Moosacher defender allowed him to steam into the area. The ponytailed Irish car dealer could have slotted home but unselfishly found the supporting Clare Rich who poked home to double his tally before being substituted at the break. Clare - already having played a full 90 in the earlier game.

Poulton fired just over after a classy move involving Meyer on the left hand side.

Rovers soaked up some extended pressure but went in ahead 2-1 at the break.

The second half took on similar tones with the Moosachers struggling to break down a well-organised back line who had only met on the day of the game. Special mention to Joe Westhead on debut who looked comfortable alongside the wily Proudfoot at centre back. Rovers as a group defended well from set-plays/corners. Stevenson’s Rocket took a nasty slice to the elbow after being bundled to the floor in the corner. It later required a plaster from the waitress in the beergarden as the mere sight of blood made her queasy.

Rovers also had their moments on the break, with Mcgrath/Poulton pulling the strings and Wood/Sach running their bollx off. A couple of tight offsides might have gone in Rovers favour on another day.

Rovers were almost breached late on when the winger ghosted in at the back door but Lovell saved one on one deflecting the ball for a corner.

All in all it proved an excellent run out played in good spirits with an above-average referee to stamp out any potential nonsense on what is always a slightly tricky surface at Shawshank Graubunden.
Final score – Rovers 2 Moostache 1
